Tearaways Pet Farm & Activity Centre provide indoor and outdoor activities to keep all the family happy and active, whatever the weather. It has a purpose built 6,000 square foot indoor activity centre with slides, crawling tunnels, ball pits and a separate toddler area. Tearaways has a coffee shop for you to relax in whilst your kids play and have fun.

This is a small, family-run Equestrian Centre in the Tipperary Uplands specialising in private treks over pristine mountain pastures. Our guided one and two hour treks are completely off-road over historic and unspoiled meadows with spectacular views, ancient archaeological remains, and a legend or two.

Crossogue House specialises in entertaining individuals and small groups/families from the beginning of April to mid-June and then from mid-August through to the end of November. Lár na Páirce, is the first museum dedicated to telling the story of the Gaelic Games. Located in Thurles, the birthplace of the GAA, Lár na Páirce GAA Museum is home to Ireland’s first and oldest collection of Gaelic Games sporting heritage.

There are exhibitions on hurling, gaelic football, handball, camogie, hurley making, sports broadcasting, the Sam Melbourne Collection of GAA memorabilia and much more.

Located in the heart of Clonmel’s civic centre, Tipperary County Museum tells the story of Tipperary and its people from early times to present day and features artefacts from military, religious, social history, political, archaeology, geology, townscapes, photography, sports and industrial collections.

Follow the trail of Tipperary’s River Suir from Cahir to Carrick-on-Suir. There are 56km of great kayaking opportunities along the river but if you want a steadier pace walk or cycle the trails.

Treacy’s Blueway Bike Hire cater for all age groups so why not come along and enjoy a trip on the beautiful Blueway. Take a trip along the Suir Blueway, experience the picturesque 21-kilometre cycle trail along the heritage Blueway towpath from Carrick-on-Suir through Kilsheelan to Clonmel.

The Cabra Wetlands trust was registered in 1993 in an effort to save a vast area of wetland habitats from destruction after the filling-in of the settling pools by the Thurles Sugar Factory during its closure. These lagoons used to be an oasis of wildlife, particularly birds. The Trust was formed and acquired the land adjacent to the filled-in lagoons to ensure the continuation of this resting place for migratory birds.

The Centre is run by a group of committed volunteers who provide exciting field trips for children and adults of all ages. The Wetlands have no less than 15 different habitats including ponds, reed swamps, hedgerows, streams and wild flower meadows. Footpaths and raised walkways with beautifully illustrated information boards as well as a large bird hide make an ideal place for school children to discover the sights and sounds of nature in a safe and child friendly environment.

Kingstown Farm is a family run farm. In 2021 we planted a 3.5 acre field of sunflowers in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and the National Orthopaedic Hospital Dublin. It is open at various times throughout the year so be sure to enquire in advance, attractions include sunflower picking in the summer, pick your own pumpkin for Halloween and a corn maze to explore.

A wonderful 5km loop that utilises forestry tracks and hillside paths to provide a pleasant walking trail with views of Lough Derg and Slievenamon and distant views of the Comerage and Knockmealdown Mountains.

Brave the outdoors with a dip in the swimming pool located in the Riverside Park in Ballina. Attractively located alongside Lough Derg, it is the perfect place for a whole family to unwind on a lazy afternoon.

Located in Templemore, Co. Tipperary features a gorgeous fairy trail, many pretty bridges, a pith and putt course, ducks and swans and many picnic stops. Templemore Town Park offers a wonderful family day out.

One of the best ways to experience the magic of Lough Derg is to visit the beautiful hamlet of Garrykennedy. This quaint Irish village is a firm favourite for many visitors to the lake and it isn’t difficult to see why!

The relaxing atmosphere of the village makes for the perfect atmosphere for a family day at the lakeside, while the wooded trails that hug the shoreline are perfect for a leisurely wander in nature.

6km along the Portroe Road out of Ballina is a lovely walk of 2.4km on a rough track through open bog land with some steep bits. This brings you to the site of the millennium cross, erected in 2006.

There is a small parking area available, and a seating bench at the summit where you will see some breath-taking views of Lough Derg.

Take the beautiful riverside walk from Cahir Castle to the Swiss cottage taking in Inch field if time permits. The route from the castle to the swiss cottage is named the coronation walk, it runs along the river for 2km and will allow you to see the wonderful wildlife on the river along the way. The trail is straight and flat for easy accessibility.
