Loughmore

Loughmore is a quaint and picturesque village located on the banks of the River Suir. It’s known for Loughmoe Castle, seat of the Purcell family, Barons of Loughmoe. Some of the best views of the 14th century castle are enjoyed by commuters on the Cork to Dublin rail line, which passes through the village and right by the ruins.
However, those who whizz by on the train are missing out on other historic sites in the village, such as the 13th century abbey and the old mill which was built in 1842. You won’t want to miss The Cottage community co-operative shop and tearooms either. Stop in to say hi, rest your legs and enjoy some delicious treats.
