Emly

Emly is one of the oldest centres of Christianity in Ireland and was the site of a monastery established by St. Ailbe, regarded as one of the four great patrons of Ireland. Today, the parish church dedicated to St. Ailbe is very much the heart of the village and St Ailbe’s holy well and cross, which can be found in the adjoining graveyard and are just two of the village’s links to its fascinating medieval past.
