Mitchelstown Cave

Mitchelstown Cave, was discovered in 1833 by local labourer Michael Condon. Mitchelstown Cave is one of Europe’s most impressive limestone show caves. The guided route leads visitors through a series of vast caverns featuring dramatic dripstone formations, stalactites, stalagmites, and the renowned Tower of Babel calcite column. Developed for public access in 1972, it is recognised as one of Ireland’s major show caves and a significant geological site, offering an immersive experience into a subterranean landscape shaped over millions of years.
