Galtee Honey Farm

Galtee Honey Farm is run by third & fourth generation beekeepers dedicated to conserving the Native Irish Black Honey Bee—a threatened subspecies vital to Ireland’s natural heritage. Nestled at the edge of a native oak and yew woodland within the 1,200-acre Glengarra Wood recreation area, our honey farm tells a story spanning over 50 years.

Discover the stories, heritage and deep cultural significance of bees in Irish life. In the interpretive room, enjoy tastings of distinctive Irish honeys and honey mead, while learning about biodiversity, beekeeping traditions and the vital role bees play in our natural world. We also offer a beekeeping experience where visitors can see the bees up close. Galtee Honey Farm offers both public and private tours.
