Begin your journey along the Butler Trail at Cahir Castle, one of Ireland’s largest and most impressive castles, originally built by the Butler family.
From here, the Coronation Walk leads southward through serene woodland towards the enchanting Swiss Cottage a beautifully ornate retreat once part of Lord and Lady Cahir’s estate, used to entertain guests in style.
The trail follows a gentle, even path surrounded by native broadleaf woodland planted in the 1790s. You’ll pass through groves of mature beech, oak, Spanish chestnut, sycamore, laurel, rhododendron, and elder.
Keep an eye out for local wildlife too red squirrels, pheasants, ducks, swans, and woodcock are often spotted along the way.
