Ormond Castle

Joined to an earlier medieval riverside castle, Ormond Castle is the finest example of an Elizabethan manor house in Ireland. Built in 1565 by Thomas, 10th Earl of Ormond, in honour of Queen Elizabeth, the castle features a magnificent great hall adorned with exquisite stucco plasterwork, including portraits of Queen Elizabeth and Edward VI. Audiovisuals and technological installations bring its history to life.
