Thurles Racecourse

Thurles Racecourse, just outside the town centre, is Ireland’s only privately-owned racecourse and has been in the Molony family for over 100 years. Racing has taken place here since 1732, and today it remains a firm favourite with trainers, jockeys and racegoers alike. The right-handed track is known for its excellent drainage, making it a reliable winter venue and a key stop on the National Hunt calendar. Big names like Don Cossack, Sizing John and Al Boum Photo all raced here on their way to Cheltenham success. With a warm, friendly atmosphere and a long history of great racing, Thurles offers an authentic and memorable day out.
