As June is the month for Ireland’s famous garden show Bloom, we thought you’d like to know about our own beautiful garden trail here in Tipperary. The Tipperary Garden Festival takes place in June each year. These show gardens are a real feast for the eyes and a great way to recharge your soul. Some have plants available for sale (so you can satisfy that gardening bug) after being inspired by your visit to these stunning gardens. Please note some may require booking by appointment and some charge an admission fee.

Ashfield Garden

This is a 1 acre young country garden situated in the scenic Glen of Aherlow with stunning views of the Galtee Mountains. There is a large variety of plants, trees, shrubs, perennials & grasses.

Location: From Bansha, follow R663 towards Lisvarrinane. Ashfield is approx. 3 miles from Bansha (5 miles from Lisvarrinane). It is two storey yellow farmhouse on the right hand side from Bansha. There is no Appointment required for their Gardens Open Festival weekend on the 24th and 25th June and other times are by appointment.

Ballyhist House

This is a one acre young garden with stunning views of the Knockmealdownan and Galtee Mountains. Mostly gravel, lawn and cobble. Features here include a young pergola walk, sunken garden, a water feature with a Japanese bridge. It’s mostly shrubs and an added bonus is that there are plants for sale.

Location: Clonmel town to Ardfinnan, From Ardfinnan, take Clogheen Road, 2.6km from Ardfinnan Church turn right, 0.5km pink bungalow on left.
Co-ordinates: North 52° 18mins 2sec West 7° 55mins 27sec

Open: Festival Weekend Sat/Sun. 2pm - 6pm. Other times and groups by appointment.

Admission: €6. Proceeds to Cancer Aftercare, Relaxation & Education.

Ballyboy House

This is a 2 hectare country garden and will appeal to any plant lover, with the added bonus of water features and woodlands. The facilities include Refreshments and a plant sale. Wheelchair friendly.

Location: Ballyboy House and Gardens and Woodlands are situated on the R665.

Open: Festival Weekend Sat/Sun. 11am - 6pm. Open all year round - groups by appointment.

Admission: €6. Proceeds to St. Theresa's Hospital, Clogheen

Killurney Garden

A beautiful country garden set on c.1 acre, with a natural pool fed from the mountain stream. It consists of a variety of trees, shrubs, herbaceous borders and a scree bed. There is a plant sale and refreshments are available on request. The facilities include toilet facilities and there is limited wheelchair access.

Location: Take the N24 (Waterford Road) from Clonmel, turn onto the N76 (Kilkenny Road), take 2nd left at pub/petrol pumps, take 3rd right at sign for Killurney. 1st left after school, 1st house on left.

Open: Festival Weekend Sat/Sun 10am - 6pm. Other times by appointment.

Admission: €6. Proceeds to South Tipp Hospice
