Tipperary Tourism has announced a new membership scheme for 2017 that is open to all tourism related businesses, community groups and individuals across Tipperary. Tourism plays an important role within the economy of County Tipperary with over 300,000 domestic and international visitors injecting almost €90 million into the county annually. As the key tourism body, Tipperary Tourism works with the tourism industry, community, stakeholders, government agencies and departments to market Tipperary and implement our tourism strategy to drive the growth of the visitor economy. The company has 15 members including representatives from the local tourism industry, local government and key agencies. The board is responsible for the delivery of the Tourism Strategy (available to view on www.tipperary.com) for Tipperary which includes; Product Development, Industry Development, Marketing and Promotional activities.
Tipperary Tourism offers a range of trade supports and county marketing activities that present the county’s tourism products and activities to target consumers in Ireland and overseas. Tourism and tourism-related businesses can benefit from these directly by becoming a Member of Tipperary Tourism, thereby supporting all of us involved in developing Tipperary as a leading tourism destination.

County Tipperary will be marketed and promoted domestically and internationally by Tipperary Tourism throughout 2017 and there are plans underway to develop a new suite of marketing and promotional materials that can be used by businesses to entice visitors to the Premier County. These include, new imagery, video content, map and guide, online marketing promotions using social media, enhancement of www.tipperary.com and Tipperary Tourism is currently in the process of developing an exciting new brand identity. By making a contribution as a member you will reap the benefits of an annual marketing budget for promoting tourism in County Tipperary.”

All of County Tipperary is part of Ireland’s Ancient East, a marketing proposition used by Failte Ireland and Tourism Ireland to promote County Tipperary and surrounding counties as a touring region of lush green landscapes with over 5,000 years of history. At the launch of the membership scheme, Marie Phelan, Tourism Development Officer with Tipperary County Council and member of Tipperary Tourism highlighted the importance of leveraging off this proposition so that Tipperary can position itself as one of the leading destinations in Ireland’s Ancient East. “Together we believe we can position Tipperary as a leading inland destination in Irelands Ancient East. Tipperary punches above its weight in terms of the national picture for international visitors. This is a solid baseline from which to achieve growth and build our reputation with the domestic visitor. Tipperary Tourism will continue to work with Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland to ensure that the key tourism assets of the county such as Lough Derg, The Rock of Cashel, Munster Vales, and our unique concentration of premium castles and heritage attractions are to the forefront of marketing campaigns”, she stated.

This year the membership scheme has three categories which include; Marketing Membership for those who want to be included in Tipperary Tourism’s marketing platforms; Friends of Tipperary Tourism for non-tourism businesses and individuals that recognise the value tourism to the county; and Community Tourism and Voluntary groups.
