Rock of Cashel
A spectacular group of Medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars Choral. This is one of Ireland's most visited heritage sites.

To say the Rock is steeped in history is an understatement, and it’s easy to immerse yourself in what these structures and remains meant to Ireland in years gone by. Guided tours, audiovisual presentations, shows and exhibitions are all available, but you need to contact the site in advance to arrange a time. Alternatively, you can download an information leaflet from the Heritage Ireland site to follow the centuries long history of this magnificent place. The site is open all-year round, but opening hours vary depending on the time of year. Closed 24th, 25th and 26th December.

Tickets for entry to the Rock itself can be purchased at the entrance gate; arrangements can be made for visitors with disabilities if you email in advance (rockofcashel@opw.ie); similarly groups must be booked in advance. The town of Cashel is just off the main M8 motorway between Dublin to Cork, and the town is also served by numerous bus services from Cork and Dublin.
