Did You Know?

The GAA is the cultural body that is dedicated to running and administering Ireland’s native sports including Gaelic Football and Hurling. Our tip is to get along to a hurling game. During the summer months you won’t get a better combination of Irish culture and a party than cheering on the blue and gold in what we like to call the best field game in the world.

Monaincha Church

Address: Roscrea, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary
The church is situated on what used to be an island in a bog. It was probably founded by St Cainnech of Aghaboe, Co. Laois, in the 6th century but it has associations with St Cronan of Roscrea.

The monastery experienced a revival in the 12th century when it became Augustinian. The nave-and-chancel church has a finely decorated 12th-century west doorway and chancel arch constructed in a warm sandstone.

Outside the church are 12th Century high cross fragments.

The church is 2.5km from Roscrea town.
