To prove how much we know our food in these parts, Tipperary was the only county to scoop three awards at the prestigious Good Food Ireland Awards 2010.
Our tip is simple - sample the winners fare at The Old Convent, Clogheen; Larkin’s Bar and Restaurant, Garrykennedy; James Whelan Butchers, Clonmel and Cashel Blue, Fethard.
Larkin's family-run traditional bar and restaurant, situated on the shores of Lough Derg, offers the perfect setting! A bar menu is available during the day and on it you will find items like fish chowder, smoked salmon, chicken wings, Irish sirloin steak, fish & chips, traditional Irish bacon & cabbage, Irish stew & mixed grill along with many more items.
At night things move up a notch or two where a lovely a la carte menu is available and on that you will find golden fried brie, Atlantic mussels, spicy chicken salad, seafood salad, roast duckling, Irish T- bone, filet and sirloin steak.
Idyllically located with a breathtaking view of Lough Derg from the dining room, the thatched roof, lime washed walls, half-door, snug, and gracious dining rooms to accompany the fine food all adds up to an unforgettable experience at Larkin's that you'll want to repeat over and over again.
Georgina Campbell recognised and a member of Good Food Ireland, Larkin's is also listed in the Michelin Guide 'Eating out in Pubs 2008, 2009, 2010. Music every weekend.
