The world famous Ballydoyle Stable, founded by one of the greatest trainers of all time, Vincent O’Brien, has seen some legendary horses pass through its doors, many including the great Saddlers Wells went on to stand as stallions at their breeding arm Coolmore Stud. Our tip for Tipp is to keep an eye out as you drive through the south east of Tipperary. The beautiful young foal you see by their mother’s side could be a future horseracing legend.

Founded in 1269 by Walter de Burgo, the Earl of Ulster, the monastery was dedicated to St. Peter martyr. Walter de Burgo and a Norman landowner in Lorrha, invited the Dominicans to his estate in 1269.

The nave and chancel of the church are of equal width giving the appearance of a very long building. The five-light east window is fragmentary and there are good lancet windows in the North and South walls.

In thiscChurch are the tombs of the O'Kennedys, local kings and chieftains, and also the tombs of the MacEgans, famous Brehons and lawyers.
